Q. Do I have to get a permit to have a well
drilled?
A. If your location is within the city limits, yes you must
obtain a permit from your City. Outside of the city limits, you will
need to check with your water district for that determination.
|
Q. What regulations govern where a well can be drilled?
A. Standard regulations require a well be 100' from septic
field lines, 50' from property lines and/or a septic tank. Other
considerations are utility and power line right-of-ways, underground
lines, etc. Special provisions do exist that will allow a well to
be drilled under less distances.
|
Q. How deep will my well be drilled?
A. Depths vary from area to area. We have drilled wells
from 150' (minimum) to 1000'.
|
Q. How long will my water well
last?
A. Wells drilled 40 - 50 years ago are still producing
today! Wells which have been abandoned have typically had steel
casing issues, not lack of water. Today, we use PVC casing.
Your well should last for decades.
|
Q. How much water can we expect
from our well?
A. Most of the wells drilled can supply more water than the customer
needs. There are areas however, where water resources are limited,
or are not available. We have maps of Henderson and Van Zandt counties, with well locations and water formations marked.
We
will be happy to discuss your water supply expectations in more detail with you.
|
Q. What kind of quality can I
expect from my well and how safe is well water?
A. The large majority of all wells drilled here produce excellent
water, no contamination, and require no filtration. Well water is
typically the safest source of drinking water available. Well
water is not vulnerable to pollution, contamination and diseases, as
they are not open air pools. Please contact us so we may discuss
this in more detail with you.
|
Q. When should I have my
water well drilled?
A. If you are building a home, this well should be the first
thing put in. Your building contractor will need water for
different phases
of your home construction.
|
Q. How can I pay for my well?
A. Chambers and Phillips accepts Visa and MasterCard.
Chambers and Phillips also has financing available through American
National Bank, with approved credit. You may want to visit with your local bank, FHA, or other financial

are building a new home, the cost of the well may be included in the
original construction costs.
